An apprenticeship programme leading to the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) Primary Care Practice Assistance. It prepares apprentices to provide both clinical and administrative support in primary care practices under the delegation of health professionals.
Blended study
This is a mix of online learning & face-to-face sessions
It will take a total of 87 weeks

Engage and communicate with people, family and/or whānau using approaches that respect their socio-cultural identity and experiences.

Demonstrate knowledge of kawa and tikanga, and recognise the unique place of Māori as tangata whenua of Aotearoa in healthcare practice.

This apprenticeship supports experienced staff in primary care to develop the practical and theoretical skills required to assist with clinical and administrative tasks in healthcare settings. Apprentices are supported through on-job learning and online resources, gaining competencies in working with patients, supporting healthcare teams, and implementing quality and administrative systems within primary care. Apprentices are coached and assessed in real work situations to ensure practical capability.
