Demonstrate knowledge of kawa and tikanga, and relate the unique role of Māori as tangata whenua in primary care contexts.
The Apprenticeship in Primary Care Practice Assistance prepares trainees to effectively contribute to the day-to-day operation of New Zealand primary care practices. Apprentices learn both clinical and administrative skills under the direction of health professionals, developing knowledge in engaging with people, understanding NZ healthcare aims, and supporting quality systems. The programme is supported by dedicated advisors and integrates theory with current workplace roles to enhance capability and reflective practice. Assessment occurs in real work settings.
