Understand and explain the philosophy, purpose and benefits of quality assurance in diversional therapy.

Conduct assessments, develop and implement diversional therapy care plans for individuals and groups, particularly those experiencing grief and loss.
This short programme is designed for support workers transitioning into diversional or recreation therapy roles. It covers competencies in the philosophy, purpose and benefits of diversional therapy, quality assurance, and the provision, development and implementation of therapy care plans for both individuals and groups, particularly those suffering grief and loss. On completion, learners have demonstrated the ability to provide diversional therapy plans and contribute to quality care within various health and community settings.
What you need to know first
Completion of the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community) (Level 4) with strands in Community Facilitation, Community Health Work, Mental Health and Addiction, or Social Services (delivered as Careerforce apprenticeship programmes); OR
Completion of another New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) or above programme with Careerforce; OR
