This course requires 40 hours per week

Graduates will be able to translate concepts into practical, creative design solutions informed by architectural theory and technical requirements.

Students learn to solve problems related to building technologies and construction as applied to the built environment.

This three-year degree programme gives you the skills to pursue a career in architectural design and the building industry. You'll develop analytical, conceptual, and academic skills, alongside technical abilities in drawing, CAD, construction, and building science. Study in purpose-built, modern facilities, select elective options to tailor your qualification, and engage in design competitions and industry work experience. Graduates can progress towards Registered Architect status through further study and practical experience.
What you need to know first
NCEA Level 3 including 14 credits at Level 3 in each of three NZQA approved university entrance subjects.

Develop the ability to communicate design concepts and documentation effectively with industry stakeholders using verbal, drawn, and digital media.
10 Literacy credits at Level 2 or above (5 reading, 5 writing).
10 Numeracy credits at Level 1 or above.
Portfolio and cover letter demonstrating design, graphic, and/or art skills equivalent to NCEA Level 3.
Applicants may be asked to attend an interview or meet additional criteria if applying by alternative requirements based on life or work experience.
International students: Equivalent secondary school qualification to NZ NCEA Level 3; evidence of English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0 or equivalent).
Entry-level roles in architectural practices or building industry
Progression (with further study and experience): Registered Architect
