Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting

Students will learn about basic skincare, human biology relevant to beauty, and acquire hands-on make-up techniques (including historical and creative make-up applications).

Under supervision, students will perform facials, manicures, pedicures, brow shaping, and tinting, while understanding relevant professional standards.

If you are at secondary school and have an interest in beauty, make-up, and fashion, the OSTC Beauty Therapy Level 2 course at Otago Polytechnic provides foundational training. Learn basic skincare, make-up techniques (including creative and historical), and carry out key salon procedures under supervision. Discover how a beauty salon operates, use professional products, and communicate with real clients. This course offers 25 credits and is taught on campus in Dunedin, fully funded for most students, and prepares you for further study or entry-level employment in the beauty sector.
