This Level 4 New Zealand Certificate course equips students to work independently as qualified barbers within commercial environments. The programme includes hands-on training in a professional on-campus barber shop, covering both traditional and modern fashion styling, industry history, professional ethics, and business operations. Students will develop advanced scissor, clipper, and fade skills, client relations, professional standards, health and safety practices, and marketing techniques. Graduates are prepared for employment in barber shops and a range of settings where barbering services are needed.
What you need to know first
At least 40 credits at NCEA Level 1, including 10 Literacy credits and 10 Numeracy credits; or a recognised equivalent
