This free, facilitator-led course lets you learn at your own pace, covering everything from turning on a computer to using key software tools and setting up an email. Students gain the confidence to connect, begin tertiary study, or get ahead in the workplace.
Course Content
- The basics of using a computer: powering on, logging in, using mouse and keyboard
- Navigating programs and applications on a Windows desktop
- File management principles
- Introduction to Word, Internet Explorer, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher
- Printing documents
- Understanding the Internet and its origins
- Internet terminology: browsers, hyperlinks, search engines, URLs
- Basic search techniques
- Using social media platforms
- Email: sending/receiving messages, attachments, setting up accounts, signatures, message options
