Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and colleagues to provide appropriate customer service.

Check building regulatory documentation for completeness, handle and escalate enquiries.

Apply knowledge of the relevant aspects of the regulatory framework within building or regulatory environments.
This nationally recognised certificate enables students to study while working in an administrative or support role within the building control environment, typically at a Building Consent Authority. Over 20 weeks, students gain technical and administrative skills focused on supporting compliance, approval processes, and communication in the building regulatory field. The programme combines distance/online learning, teacher-directed workshops, and 360 hours of workplace-based practicum.

Employer confirmation of role and support for relevant duties and hours
Trained in employer’s health and safety requirements (site entry and use of PPE)
General Admission: Minimum of four years of secondary education and 10 NCEA credits (Level 1+) in English and Mathematics OR equivalent qualification at Level 3+ OR relevant work experience
OR Special Admission: At least 20 years old and evidence of aptitude/work or life experience; English proficiency for study at Level 4 may be required for EAL students
