It will take a total of 35 weeks

Maintain health and safety in a fencing workplace.

Operate and maintain machinery and/or equipment for a fencing workplace.

Use vehicles to access rural fence lines and transport fencing equipment safely.
This programme prepares students for employment as rural fencers or in rural enterprise roles with responsibility for constructing and maintaining electric and non-electric fences. Study combines site visits, online coursework, in-work learning, and hands-on block courses. Assessment includes logbooks, employer attestations, evidence portfolios, and video logs, with minimal written requirements. The course is developed in partnership with Fencing Contractors Association NZ, and includes machine/equipment use, rural vehicle training (for those without prior unit standards), and health & safety practices relevant to the fencing industry.
