Explain and apply legislation relevant to construction trades tasks, maintain safe working practices, and oversee a safe work environment.

Interpret basic drawings and specifications, perform essential calculations, and demonstrate appropriate communication with colleagues and customers.

He Toki Carpentry Trades Training is designed for Māori and Pasifika learners aged 16-40 who want to launch a rewarding career in carpentry. This full-time programme delivers the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Level 3) with an emphasis on te reo, tikanga Māori, and strong mentorship. Learners receive practical, work-ready skills through real-world building projects, a supportive whānau environment, and guidance from industry and iwi. Graduates gain the core competencies needed to start work as apprentice carpenters and are equipped to continue their career growth in the construction sector.

- Overall Academic IELTS 5.0 (with no band lower than 5.0), achieved in one test in the last two years OR
- Acceptable alternative English language proficiency evidence.
