Interpret basic drawings, perform relevant calculations, and demonstrate effective communication appropriate for construction trades.
He Toki Carpentry Trades Training is a one-year, full-time programme designed for Māori and Pasifika aged 16–40, offering the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Level 3) in Carpentry. It provides a unique, supportive environment with te reo, tikaka, and mentorship at its core. Through practical and real-world learning, participants gain work-ready skills needed in the construction trades industry, with a strong focus on safety, communication, calculations, and hands-on carpentry. The programme connects students with iwi and industry, preparing graduates for apprenticeships and future roles as carpenters or forepersons.
Entry Requirements
Open entry (no academic prerequisites). Special and discretionary admission available.
