This one-year, full-time programme provides a comprehensive introduction to construction trade skills, with a focus on carpentry. Learners gain practical experience and theoretical knowledge essential for safe, effective work in the construction sector. The curriculum covers workplace safety, trade mathematics, reading specifications and plans, carpentry-specific terminology, building assembly techniques, and completion of real carpentry projects, preparing graduates for apprenticeships or entry-level roles. The course is delivered across major UCOL campuses using state-of-the-art facilities.

NCEA Level 1 or equivalent academic achievement.

It will take a total of 1 year
This course requires 33 hours per week

Interpret and use specifications and drawings to complete construction projects.
International students: IELTS Academic score of 5.0 with no band less than 5 or equivalent, from a single test.
International applicants under 20 require NCEA equivalency.
