The Animation, Visual Effects and Game Design major at AUT is a creative programme merging technology, storytelling, and visual communication. Students develop skills with industry-standard software and studios for animation, visual effects, game and interactive design. The curriculum covers 2D and 3D animation, motion capture, narrative and user experience design, content creation, and critical analysis. Industry links, guest speakers, and a required 60-hour work placement provide valuable real-world experience. Graduates can pursue roles across animation studios, VFX houses, film, games, VR, and related creative industries.

Learn to design, communicate, and analyse moving image narratives and engaging user experiences for a variety of digital platforms.

Use state-of-the-art green screen, motion capture, VR studios, and advanced computer labs equipped with leading software.
