The Bachelor of Design (Communication) prepares you to communicate original ideas and stories visually through various media including still and moving images, text, sound, and interactive media. The programme emphasises positive social and environmental change, and includes industry-focused, client-driven projects. In year one you study a broad range of design disciplines before specialising in your area of choice for years two and three. The degree is delivered on campus in Dunedin and equips graduates with work-ready, entrepreneurial, and collaborative skills relevant to a wide range of creative industries.
Entry Requirements
NCEA Level 3 with 14 credits at Level 3 in each of three NZQA approved university entrance subjects

Produce a professional portfolio showcasing your work and develop an understanding of your responsibilities as a designer, including designing for people, planet, and place.
10 Literacy credits at Level 2 or above (5 reading, 5 writing)
10 Numeracy credits at Level 1 or above
Or equivalent qualifications/experience
Portfolio submission required unless qualifying for automatic or pre-approved entry
May require an interview
International students must meet equivalent academic and English requirements (IELTS 6.0 overall, no band lower than: Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0, Reading 5.5, Listening 5.5, or equivalent).
