The Education Major in the Bachelor of Arts at AUT offers students the opportunity to examine learning processes in a broad social, cultural and historical context. The programme is designed for those interested in education but not necessarily in classroom teaching. It covers educational theory, learning in diverse communities, social media, popular culture, and social justice. Flexible course structures allow for combinations with other majors or minors, and workplace experience is integrated for practical learning. Graduates are prepared for a range of careers in educational policy, social development, youth work, community organisations, HR, marketing, and communication, or can progress to postgraduate teaching qualifications.
