Explain basic principles/concepts of ecology and represent plants for identification.

Outline whakapapa of wāhi tapu and apply tikanga related to heritage and recreation management.

Describe kaupapa Māori principles relevant to conservation resolution and projects.
UCOL's New Zealand Certificate in Conservation (Operations) Level 4 equips learners with practical, operational skills for conservation in the ecological restoration context. The programme develops understanding of ecology, tikanga Māori related to heritage sites, weed and pest control, use of conservation machinery and vehicles, application of relevant legislation, and GIS technology. It prepares learners for conservation work including ecosystem assessment, data collection, and applying kaupapa Māori principles.
