Develop the knowledge and skills required for the production, harvesting, preparation, marketing, manufacturing, and processing of wool.

Identify and classify different wool lines and grades according to sheep breed, and evaluate classification decisions that reflect market and supply chain requirements.

Take responsibility for team performance and output in a woolshed setting, demonstrating basic leadership and operational management skills.
The New Zealand Certificate in Wool Technology and Classing (Level 4) provides the technical skills needed for wool classing and technology roles in New Zealand's wool industry. This part-time blended-delivery programme covers wool production, harvesting, preparation, marketing, manufacturing, and processing, preparing graduates to work throughout the wool value chain and become eligible for the New Zealand Wool Classing Association's Provisional (P) stencil certification.
What you need to know first
Minimum 16 years old with NCEA Level 2 (for applicants under 20)
Applicants over 20: evidence of ability to succeed (prior study at level 3+ or sector employment)
