Graduates will be eligible for the Maritime New Zealand licence for skippers restricted to domestic waters, suitable for commercial workboats, water taxis, and small ferries. The flexible delivery includes online modules, practical sea-time, and on-campus block courses, ensuring learning is industry-relevant and workplace-connected.
What you need to know first
40 credits at NCEA Level 1 or above, including 10 Literacy credits and 10 Numeracy credits
OR New Zealand Certificate in Domestic Maritime Crewing (Level 3)

Competencies for command positions within the maritime sector (vessel and land-based roles)

Hold elementary first aid certification and Maritime Restricted Radio Operators Certificate.
