In this 15 credit course, students explore principles and practices associated with the selection, establishment, care, and maintenance of plants used in amenity horticulture such as parks and gardens. Topics include the use of native and exotic plants in New Zealand gardens, hedges and shelter establishment and maintenance, ground cover plants, climbers, and pruning techniques. The course requires previous study or experience in Plant Studies or Plant Husbandry as prerequisites.
