Discuss essential components of antenatal, labour, birth, and postnatal care using midwifery decision points and evidence for practice, including screening options and routine testing for women and identifying deviation from the norm.

This integrated short course is designed for qualified midwives who have not practiced for 5-10 years and need to update their theoretical knowledge of pregnancy, physiological birth, and the postnatal period, or for current New Zealand midwives seeking to refresh their knowledge. Approved by the Midwifery Council of New Zealand and comprising 100 learning hours, the course covers competencies required for entry to the Register of Midwives and involves completion within 26 weeks from enrolment. Assessment is through an online exam.
