An interactive, beginner-level Māori language programme introducing conversational Te Reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and foundational communication skills. Suitable for learners continuing from Level 1, preparing for further study.
In-person study
Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting

It will take a total of 36 weeks
This course requires 20 hours per week

Learners will correctly pronounce Māori words, names, and place names.

Use basic greetings and introduce oneself in Te Reo Māori.

Understand and follow Māori protocols (tikanga) in set scenarios.
This beginner's-level programme builds on foundational Te Reo Māori, providing interactive learning in both language and cultural protocols (tikanga Māori). It introduces more advanced conversational skills, pronunciation, basic vocabulary and sentence structures, as well as waiata and customs. Graduates are prepared for everyday use of Māori language at home, work, and community, and for further study at higher NZQA levels.
