Communicate independently and fluently in te reo Māori with spontaneity and precision in diverse settings.

Articulate, critique ideas and theories, and conduct research using specialised te reo Māori lexicon and knowledge.

Engage in and support the use and growth of te reo Māori within whanau, marae, professional, and academic environments.
The New Zealand Diploma in Te Reo (Rumaki) (Level 6) is designed for those who are already proficient in te reo Māori and seek to refine their speaking, comprehension, and expressive abilities. The course supports learners who want to communicate independently and critically using te reo Māori in various settings including whanau, marae, academia, and the professional sector. Tikanga Māori is interwoven throughout, and graduates are equipped for roles requiring advanced skills in language, analysis, and cultural competency.
What you need to know first
At least 16 years of age at the start (or school exemption)
NZ citizen (or Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent resident
