New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) is an official language of Aotearoa New Zealand and is used by the Deaf community. UCOL's Introduction to Sign Language course teaches the fundamentals of NZSL, including basic greetings and the alphabet, in an enjoyable and practical format. This programme is designed for those who wish to begin learning how to communicate with Deaf individuals and supports further language development through subsequent courses.
