It will take a total of 17 weeks

Use and understand basic English for everyday, familiar situations in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Apply study skills through face-to-face, independent, and online learning modes.

Gain the necessary language proficiency to enter further English language programmes, usually NZCEL (Level 2).
The New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 1) is aimed at learners with very little English proficiency who wish to build foundational English skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Through face-to-face, independent, and online learning, students acquire appropriate communication skills to use and understand simple English in familiar, everyday situations. The programme is aligned with CEFR A2 and prepares students for pathway study, such as NZCEL Level 2.
What you need to know first
Applicants must be 16 years or older.
Demonstrate appropriate language proficiency as determined by the Centre for Languages Placement Test.
