The New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 3) offered by NMIT provides essential skills and knowledge for those wishing to start a career in the mechanical engineering sector. The programme includes both workshop and classroom learning, supported by recommended work experience. It covers the tools, machines, and principles of the engineering workplace, as well as health and safety, numeracy, communication, and teamwork. Successful completion is recognised as equivalent to the first year of an engineering apprenticeship.
What you need to know first
NCEA Level 1 with 10 credits in Numeracy (algebra, trigonometry, measurement recommended) and 10 credits in Literacy
