Gain elementary to advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, fitting, machining, maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.

Perform defined engineering tasks, operate workshop machinery, manufacture strand-based projects, and apply precision machining and advanced maintenance skills.

Plan and execute strand based projects and tasks with limited supervision, demonstrating management practice understanding.
This programme is designed for people working in the mechanical engineering industry to gain advanced skills in fitting, machining, and general engineering. Typically achieved in the workplace through a New Zealand Apprenticeship model over four years part-time. The course allows candidates to balance study and work with flexible delivery including day release, night classes, block courses, and online learning. It covers a comprehensive set of modules including engineering principles, practical workshops, precision machining, welding, maintenance, management practice, and project work across two strands: fitting and machining, or general engineering.
