What You're Signing Up For
The Otago Bachelor of Arts (BA) offers students the opportunity to select from over 40 arts and social science subjects, promoting flexibility and encouraging cross-disciplinary learning. Students develop critical thinking, empathy, and leadership skills for a diverse range of careers. The programme structure allows for a change in major or the addition of minor subjects and emphasizes development of analytical and communication abilities. Students engage in at least 360 points of study, with a significant proportion at advanced levels, and have options for double or combined degrees.
Course Content
- Wide range of subjects: politics, philosophy, history, criminology, anthropology, music, English, and more
- At least one major required, minors optional
- At least 360 points total, including 180 points above 100-level and 72 points above 200-level
- Flexible paper (course) selection, including options from other faculties
- Critical thinking and analytical skill development
- Opportunities to study abroad or combine degrees
