Wintec
A one-day taster course introducing secondary students to the fundamentals of Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), covering basic dimensioning, scaling, and both 2D and 3D digital drawing using industry-standard tools.
In-person study
Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting
The Hub, Rotokauri Campus, Hamilton
This course requires 6 hours per week

Students will learn the foundational skills of dimensioning and scaling used in computer-aided drawing.

Students will gain introductory experience in producing 2D drawings with AutoCAD, an industry-standard tool.

Students will be introduced to 3D digital drawing and modelling using Solidwork/Inventor to visualize designs.
Throughout this one-day introduction, students will explore the world of Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) and learn practical skills in dimensioning, scaling, and the basics of 2D and 3D CAD drawing. The course provides hands-on experience with AutoCAD for 2D drawing and Solidwork/Inventor for 3D drawing, offering a foundation valuable for further studies or careers in architectural, engineering, and trades occupations. Participants will receive guidance on industry safety standards and be required to wear appropriate clothing and equipment.
