Gain knowledge and practical skills required for entry into advanced training in psychotherapy, including self-awareness and interpersonal communication.

Understand various psychotherapeutic theories and modalities and how to apply them in practice.

Develop abilities in social and cultural analysis as relevant to psychotherapy.
The Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies at AUT is designed for health professionals, volunteers, and individuals interested in becoming psychotherapists. The programme is the first stage of AUT’s integrated psychotherapy pathway, and prepares graduates for entry into the Master of Psychotherapy. Students explore theory and foundation skills in psychotherapy, develop self-awareness, effective communication, and gain an understanding of human experience and behaviour. There is an option to focus on child and adolescent psychotherapy.
