Describe the nature, prevalence, historical influences, and current issues related to family violence in New Zealand.

Undertake reliable assessments of service-related safety needs and determine appropriate intervention strategies.

Integrate intervention theories and frameworks in real-world social practice scenarios.
This micro-credential provides knowledge and skills to undertake fair and effective assessments of family violence case scenarios. Learners examine the prevalence, nature, and mediating factors of family violence, including historical and current contexts, response and intervention strategies, quality of intervention practices, and social sustainability. A central focus is on whānau-centric and kaupapa-centric approaches supporting Māori aspirations for whānau safety. Most study is online, with two required on-site wananga.
