This Level 6 diploma recognises and builds competencies for people entering or working as youth workers in Aotearoa, providing a framework of youth development practice relevant to health, wellbeing, and social services.

Apply contemporary models, codes of ethics, and Treaty of Waitangi principles in youth work settings.

Recognise and build on personal and professional competencies central to working in youth development and social services contexts.

Demonstrate familiarity with legislative responsibilities and key sector strategies guiding youth development in New Zealand.
The New Zealand Diploma in Youth Work (Level 6) is designed for aspiring and existing youth workers seeking recognition of their skills and formal professional development within the youth sector. Graduates are equipped to work within youth development frameworks informed by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, sector codes of ethics, national strategies, and core competencies. The qualification supports employment in youth work, health, wellbeing, and social services roles. Note: Careerforce is not currently offering a programme for this qualification; delivery is available through Praxis New Zealand.
