What You're Signing Up For
This programme is your first step towards a career in social work, health or counselling. It provides foundational skills in English language and mathematics to support further study or employment in these fields. Delivered over 17 weeks full-time or 1 year part-time, it offers a supportive learning environment fostering confidence and independence. On completion, graduates can progress to higher level health and social service qualifications.
Course Content
- 141.323 Mathematics in practice (15 credits): Develop and expand numeracy skills through real-world learning experiences relevant to personal life, study and employment.
- 161.317 Pathway projects (30 credits): Apply and demonstrate skills and knowledge from literacy and numeracy courses in practical contexts.
- 181.339 Communication in practice (15 credits): Develop and expand literacy skills through real-world learning experiences relevant to personal life, study and employment.
What you need to know first
Open entry for domestic students; no academic requirements.
International students must meet English language proficiency requirements: IELTS General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5 or equivalent. (Refer to NZQA for details).
