Apply knowledge and practical skills to support clients in community and social service settings.

Use appropriate tools and strategies tailored to either mental health and addiction support, or whānau, community and social services, depending on the selected strand.

This one-year Level 4 certificate equips students to work in support roles across the social and community services sector, including mental health, addiction, whānau, and community support. Students complete core modules and select between strands focusing on either Mental Health and Addiction or Whānau, Community, and Social Services. In addition to theoretical learning, students complete a 200-hour practicum and gain hands-on experience. Graduates are prepared for a range of support roles or further study in health and wellbeing fields.

40 credits at NCEA Level 1 (including 10 literacy and 10 numeracy credits) or equivalent
A relevant NZQF Level 3 course or equivalent
