Te-Tu-a-Uri: Introduction to Maori Culture and Society is an introductory course designed to provide students with an understanding of tikanga Māori values, attitudes, beliefs, and practices across different contexts. The course covers concepts of te ao Māori within a mana whenua context and emphasizes respectful engagement and communication with Māori communities. Additional focus is placed on the importance of cultural diversity, cross-cultural experiences, critical analysis of academic literature, and the recognition of tikanga Māori's implications in contemporary academic study.
