It will take a total of 20 weeks

Gain an understanding of what tikanga is, its origins, and why it exists in both traditional and contemporary Māori contexts.

Learn how to implement tikanga practices in areas such as leadership, problem solving, and research.

Be able to manage and apply key cultural protocols and practices in everyday and professional situations.
Delivered in conjunction with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, the New Zealand Certificate in Tikanga (Mātauranga Māori) (Level 3) provides students with an understanding of what tikanga is, why it exists, and how it is practiced in te ao Māori and the modern world. This 20-week full-time course includes localised delivery strands, exploring traditional thinking, the application of tikanga in leadership, problem solving, and research, and protocols providing solutions to modern challenges.

Applicants should demonstrate a keen interest in Tikanga Māori.
Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
