Implement and review policies and systems to manage risk and safety for an outdoor activity operation within the parameters of an organisation’s safety management system.

Use advanced skills and experience to manage the provision of outdoor recreation activities in a range of dynamic environments.

Select and apply effective teaching and mentoring techniques to develop technical and instructional competencies in other outdoor instructors.
This qualification enables experienced outdoor instructors to become leaders, mentors, and educators for other instructors and guides in the sector. The course equips graduates to implement and review risk and safety systems for outdoor organisations, apply advanced technical and instructional skills in dynamic environments, and educate others to develop professional competencies in outdoor activities.

NZ citizenship or permanent residency (or Australian citizen/resident residing in NZ)
Valid group to practice leadership skills with during qualification
Ability to attend in-person and online training sessions
Academic: 40 credits at NCEA Level 2 (including literacy and numeracy requirements) or equivalent; OR relevant study at NZQF Level 2 or higher; OR discretionary entrance upon review

Staff Verifier/Auditor in Outdoor Organisations
