In-person study
Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting

It will take a total of 17 weeks
This course requires 36 hours per week

Develop, deliver and assess tailored exercise programmes for clients based on needs and abilities.

Apply knowledge of nutrition and behaviour to support holistic client health.

Apply professional and ethical practices in exercise and personal training settings.
Gain the specialised skills and knowledge needed to become a personal trainer. Learn how to plan, implement and evaluate exercise programmes tailored to client needs, understand nutrition and behaviour, and work holistically with clients. The programme provides practical experience in teaching gyms and through local industry links, supporting the development of a strong client base. On completion, you will be eligible to apply for REPs NZ (Register of Exercise Professionals New Zealand) registration, or you may further your study with a degree in related fields.
What you need to know first
New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 4) or equivalent
In exceptional circumstances, applicants under 20 years old may be considered with evidence of ability to succeed
