The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise is designed for those passionate about movement and active lifestyles. It combines theoretical knowledge with extensive practical experience, preparing graduates for a wide range of roles in sport, exercise, recreation management, fitness, health promotion, or teaching/coaching. Students study foundation sports management, exercise science, nutrition, sports performance, and choose from majors in Leisure/Recreation Management, Exercise Science/Health Promotion, or Teaching/Coaching. The program features small classes, industry-standard equipment and placements, and a mix of applied and academic learning.

Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting

It will take a total of 3 years
Integrate sport science, physiology, nutrition, and psychology concepts to improve health and performance at the individual and community level.

Effectively coach and teach in diverse sport and recreation contexts, drawing on pedagogy, communication, and leadership best practice.
What you need to know first
NCEA Level 3 with University Entrance: 14 credits each in three approved subjects, plus 10 literacy credits at Level 2 or above, and 10 numeracy credits at Level 1 or above
Or demonstration of likelihood of success through recent relevant experience or sporting involvement
Applicants over 20: evidence of ability to succeed, e.g., successful study at Level 4+ or recent relevant experience
All applicants: police vetting for placement agencies
