In-person study
Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting
It will take a total of 6 months

Demonstrate knowledge of Māori worldviews and the underlying philosophies of ngā taonga tākaro (Māori traditional games).

Practically engage in the technical components of Māori games, integrating values such as kaitiakitanga (guardianship), uaratanga (values), whakapono (faith), and whanaungatanga (relationships).

This programme supports people actively involved with ngā taonga tākaro (traditional Māori games) to have fun while leading, teaching, or playing these activities with Māori communities and organizations. Learners will develop an understanding of both the philosophical and technical aspects of tākaro within a strong te ao Māori framework, emphasizing values like kaitiakitanga, uaratanga, whakapono, and whanaungatanga.
What you need to know first
Must be working in or connected to an iwi or Māori organisation, in a paid job, self-employed, or as a volunteer with regular and consistent shifts.
