In-person study
Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting
Rotokauri Campus, Hamilton
It will take a total of 31 weeks

Run sports and recreation activities and demonstrate a range of outdoor skills including mountain biking, climbing, and river crossing.

Understand and apply knowledge in exercise science to create and follow a fitness plan for personal health.

Identify human body structures and functions relevant to exercise and stretching.
The Exercise Science and Outdoor Education Level 3 programme provides students with hands-on experience and knowledge in areas such as sports, coaching, outdoor recreation, and personal fitness. Students will participate in diverse activities ranging from personal training to mountain biking and rock climbing, while also building transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, risk management, and kaitiakitanga. The course is designed for secondary students and allows credits to count toward NCEA Levels 1-3. It prepares learners for career pathways in sport science, exercise, and outdoor recreation, and enables progression to Level 4 study.
