The Certificate in Exercise (Level 5) equips students with advanced skills in exercise prescription, programme design, and delivery for various exercise environments. It emphasises practical training, including a 30-hour work placement in a gym, and integrates health, nutrition, and wellness considerations into client-focused exercise interventions. Graduates are well-prepared to work as personal trainers or exercise consultants and can register with the New Zealand Register of Exercise Professionals.

Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting

It will take a total of 6 months

Analyse and select advanced exercise options underpinned by exercise science to create customised assessments and programmes.
Discretionary entrance available for candidates with sufficient potential
IELTS 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or other proof of English proficiency for non-native speakers
Safety checks under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014
First aid certificate (to be completed within the first four weeks of the semester)
