In-person study
Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting
Rotokauri Campus, Hamilton
It will take a total of 31 weeks

Plan, conduct, and review beginner-level coaching sessions, including umpiring and officiating at sporting events.

Communicate effectively in a group to achieve objectives and enhance interpersonal skills.

Demonstrate knowledge of basic anatomy as it relates to sports skills and performance.
Sports Leadership and Outdoor Experiences (Level 2) is a vocational programme for secondary students eager to explore careers in sports and outdoor recreation. Delivered at Wintec with field experiences near the Rotokauri Campus, students will engage in activities including personal training, sports coaching, umpiring, canoeing, mountain biking, tramping, rock climbing, adventure tourism, and first aid. The course builds communication, teamwork, risk management, and leadership skills, with opportunities to interact with industry partners. Successful completion provides 27 NZQA credits towards NCEA Level 2 and a clear pathway to further study in sports leadership or outdoor education.
