It will take a total of 19 weeks

Students will be equipped to deliver practice-based education and care in a range of early childhood education settings, integrating theory with practical experience.

Learners will be able to design and implement learning experiences that reflect socio-cultural theories of learning and development.

The New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 4) at Ara prepares you to provide practice-based education and care in early childhood settings, or to continue to higher-level study in teaching. You'll learn to design learning experiences aligned with socio-cultural learning theories, develop a personal philosophy of professional practice, implement inclusive teaching, and communicate effectively in early childhood environments. The programme includes a practicum and is timetabled during school hours to support students with children.
