Undertake practicum placements in a range of early childhood centres, developing practical teaching skills and professional relationships in line with Teaching Council standards.

This three-year programme develops a deep understanding of early childhood education theory and practice in Aotearoa, with a strong focus on Te Whāriki, the New Zealand early childhood curriculum. Students gain professional teaching skills through progressive practicum placements, with options to specialise in working with Pacific children. Graduates are eligible to apply for provisional teacher registration and enter roles in early childhood centres across New Zealand.

Available in 2 locations
It will take a total of 3 years
Build understanding of the national early childhood curriculum Te Whāriki, including its principles and strands.

Complete courses on Te Reo Māori, Tikanga, and also have the option for Pacific specialisation to effectively teach in culturally diverse Aotearoa settings.
University Entrance or equivalent
Police clearance (for working with children)
Interview (as required)
