What You're Signing Up For
The New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5) is designed for individuals aspiring to or working in adult, tertiary, or vocational education and training. This qualification develops the skills needed to deliver high-quality, culturally appropriate adult education, including learning design, facilitation, assessment, evaluation, and reflective practice. Graduates are prepared for professional roles in adult education or training, and can teach in diverse settings using modern pedagogical and technological approaches.
Course Content
- CVTT521 Learner centred practice (20 credits): Strategies for respectful multicultural and literacy-inclusive adult education; design and implementation of learner-centred activities; evaluation of teaching and learning strategies.
- CVTT522 Teaching approaches for learner success (10 credits): Exploration and application of teaching and learning approaches appropriate to New Zealand adult education contexts; use of learning technologies; inclusive feedback.
- CVTT523 Assessment and moderation (15 credits): Design, evaluation, and moderation of assessment in adult education; feedback processes.
- CVTT524 Perspectives on teaching & learning (15 credits): Reflective teaching practice; professional and personal influences; principles of universal design for learning; embedding literacy and numeracy skills.
- Completion of 60 hours of work-integrated learning in an adult or tertiary teaching setting with access to a minimum of 6 adult learners.

Minimum age of 16 years and NCEA Level 2, or a Level 2 NZQF qualification or equivalent.
