The Better Start Literacy Approach (BSLA) is a structured, evidence-based teaching programme for primary and intermediate school teachers. Based on years of research, it supports educators by systematically teaching phonics, phonological awareness, morphology, spelling, writing, oral language, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. There are dedicated learning options for early years, later years, and literacy leadership roles. The approach aims to deliver strong foundations in early literacy for children in Years 0-8.
