Develop communication skills to work effectively with diverse cultural groups and use basic te reo Māori and Tikanga Māori.

Understand New Zealand legislative requirements supporting early childhood services including regulations and ethical codes.
This certificate programme develops knowledge and skills for caring for infants, toddlers and young children in early childhood settings. Topics include health and safety, nutrition, child development, learning, cultural communication, legislative and ethical practices in early childhood education, and practical experience through a 60-hour practicum placement. It prepares students for entry-level roles in early childhood education centers and supports progression to higher qualifications in the field.
