Develop the skills and knowledge needed to support the learning and development of children from birth to five years in diverse early childhood settings.

Undertake three practicum placements totalling 17 weeks, applying classroom learning under experienced teacher supervision.
This programme equips graduates with the expertise to teach early childhood education (birth to 5 years) in New Zealand and internationally. It combines theory, practicum experience in early childhood centres, and study of the New Zealand early childhood curriculum Te Whāriki. Students will gain practical skills, knowledge of pedagogies appropriate for diverse learners, and grounding in Te Ao Māori and te reo Māori. Graduates are eligible to apply for provisional certification as an early childhood teacher with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
