The Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) is a full-time, one-year programme (with part-time options available) designed for those with a bachelors degree or higher who wish to teach in New Zealand secondary schools (students aged 13–18). The programme provides strong practical and theoretical foundations in teaching, including practicum placements in schools, courses in pedagogy, subject specialisms, te reo Māori, and professional experience. It starts with an in-person block course at City Campus and is taught by subject and education experts. Both City Campus (Auckland) and online delivery are available, with some subjects available only on campus. Graduates may become provisionally-certificated teachers, ready for employment in secondary education across New Zealand.
