The Diploma in Visual Arts Tītohu mō te Toi Ataata at AUT is designed for those interested in visual arts, particularly if you are unsure about studying at university or missed out on degree entry. You'll study the same courses as first-year bachelor's students in a supportive environment, gaining familiarity with diverse artmaking methods, the history and theories of visual arts, and mātauranga Māori. Completing this diploma enables direct progression into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Visual Arts, allowing you to still complete your bachelor's in three years.

It will take a total of 1 year

Build your academic knowledge and study skills required to transition to higher-level art and design qualifications.
University Entrance OR
42 NCEA Level 3 credits, including UE literacy and numeracy, with either: 10 credits in each of three approved subjects OR 12 credits in each of two approved subjects and 14 credits across two further subjects
If you do not have University Entrance, AUT will work with you to help identify suitable diploma courses
In-person study
