Demonstrate core skills needed for ceramic artwork and transfer ideas into clay through studio techniques.

Explore, research, and implement multiple ceramic construction methods to develop personal directions in ceramics.

This is Aotearoa's only specialised tertiary programme in Ceramic Arts. You will engage in studio and online learning, developing your skills in ceramics as a creative medium. The programme emphasises exploration and experimentation, encouraging you to develop individual creative projects while learning technical construction methods, glaze theory, drawing, and art history/theory. Graduates are equipped to become practising artists or apply their skills across the art, education and design sectors.
What you need to know first
Level 3 qualification in a related field, or NCEA Level 3 (14 credits in three approved subjects at Level 3, 10 literacy credits at Level 2 or above, 10 numeracy credits at Level 1 or above), or equivalent academic achievement.

Applicants over 20: No minimum academic requirements.
Portfolio submission required (examples of finished work and process).
Letter of motivation.
If English is not your first language: New Zealand University Entrance OR IELTS 5.5 (no band lower than 5.0), or equivalent.
