About This Course
The Graduate Diploma in Accounting is designed for those with an existing degree or equivalent professional experience looking to move into or advance in accounting-related careers. The course covers advanced financial/management accounting, tax, reporting, and an applied workplace project, preparing graduates for roles in a variety of organisations including corporates, public sector, NGOs and self-employment. The programme emphasises industry-relevant, practical skills and real-world application, and provides a pathway for further postgraduate study.
Course Content
- Intermediate Financial Accounting - preparing general purpose financial reports in accordance with NZ standards.
- Intermediate Management Accounting - production cost estimation, operational budgeting, pricing and reporting.
- Taxation in New Zealand - tax legislation, GST, Fringe Benefit Tax for entities.
- Advanced Financial Accounting - advanced concepts including financial instruments and foreign exchange.
- Advanced Management Accounting - management/cost accounting approaches, lean manufacturing, risk and performance analysis.
- Organisational Research Design - research proposal, methods, compliance with research standards.
- Industry Project for Professional Accounting - applied workplace learning project (200–300 hours).
Entry Requirements
An undergraduate degree or appropriate degree-equivalent practical, professional or scholarly experience.
